and the founder of Mamaste Yoga®.

KAREN PRIOR, RPYT, LCCE

Karen PriorKaren combines a background in hatha yoga with her deep understanding of pregnancy and birth. She has worked with pregnant women since 1995. She is a registered prenatal yoga teacher, doula, childbirth educator, and breastfeeding counselor. Karen is certified to teach both the Radiant Child and Indigo Yoga programs to children and holds certifications from Integral Yoga in Postpartum Yoga and Laughter Yoga. Karen has also studied with Judith Lasater and is a certified Relax and Renew Restorative yoga teacher.

Karen draws from the classical hatha and Integral Yoga traditions and is grateful to the teachers who have influenced her teaching and guided her studies: Judith Lasater, Robert Boustany, Doug Swenson, and Jyothi Larson.

Karen is the former owner of Yoga for Women in Houston, Texas and Samatva Yoga in Oklahoma City. Karen has trained over 100 hatha yoga teachers and 50 prenatal yoga teachers. She continues to provide continuing education to other teachers as a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP).

Karen is a Yoga Alliance-registered Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with over 500 hours of training (E-RYT 500), an ACE-certified Group Fitness Instructor and has completed training/certifications in prenatal/post natal fitness through NDEITA, AFPA, AAFA, and Moms in Motion. Her non-fitness related credentials include being a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and a Certified Doula through both DONA and CBI. She holds a childbirth education diploma and breastfeeding counselor certificate with Childbirth International and is an accredited Breastfeeding Counselor with BreastfeedingUSA.
